Missing - A Poem

Forever I felt a piece of my soul missing from me.

A quietness, a refuge, a calm inner knowing.

An acceptance of our mortality. A breath deep, deeper than any of my short shallow cycles.

The moment I saw your eyes something was birthed within me.

Everything was ok. Everything was as it should be.

And for the first time in my entire existence I took a breath in that I felt at the bottom of my chest.

A breath that awoke a wandering spirit, a quenching exhale of my endless fears.

So quickly you became part of my very being.

Then so slowly our love has burned gently but powerfully like an eternal ember.

Sea, land and others attempted to severe the connection.

But every moment you were missing from me only pushed us against the current with more force.

You set my spirit free. You reminded me of my own wings.

You will forever be missing from me and I will hold my breath until I feel your presence once more.

Forever may our souls wander, intertwined in the stars.
